The seven arts of life I enjoy most.
Hi, I’m Emalee, 20 years old and a Christian. I am the oldest daughter, and the third oldest of eight children.
My Dad is a pastor (to ourI home fellowship), street preacher, and graphic designer (I get my art skills from my dad)
My Mom is a stay at home mom, who homeschools. I enjoy being a co teacher (with my mom) to my younger siblings. Mom is the one who taught me how to cook, she makes amazing food (ask my brothers, they know lol).
I admire and love them both, they are wonderful godly examples to so many.
We have lived on a farm, with chickens, dogs (Anatolian Shepherd and Great Pyrenees), and a garden (filled with all kinds of vegetables), for most of my life, until these recent years.
I started a godly courtship this last year (2025). Andrew is a wonderful blessing to me from God, and my best friend. We’ll write our continuing story as God works in our lives.
I started this blog to share the seven arts in life I enjoy most, and to incorporate my faith in every aspect.
1. Serving.
I enjoy serving my family, friends and most of all the Lord. First because as Jesus served, so must we, and second serving is paying attention to the details and needs of others (which I love) showing them how much you care.
Serving in many ways makes me grateful (especially when I serve loved ones).
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:17, 23-24
As this Bible verse says, I ultimately want my heart to be set on glorifying God in my service, not wanting the praise of men.
2. Cooking.
Food has been a struggle for me, ever since I was about ten. I’ve had different allergies and stomach problems (one being “SIBO” small intestines bacteria overthrowth, so I eat a “FODMAP” diet as of now). But with my limits I have learned gratitude and how to cook for myself and still cook (food I can’t eat) for my family and friends. I love cooking and I’m always eager to cook up another new meal for everyone to enjoy.
Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Matthew 6:25
Preparing food for my week or my day is always helpful (especially if you eat differently like me, and usually take your own food everywhere).
I’m going to write out and share some of our favorite recipes that everyone enjoys.
3. Baking
I have worked with many different types of flour (because of my allergies and stomach problems), all kinds of gluten free, einkorn, and now I usually mill wheat berries into flour.
Fresh Milled Flour has so many benefits. When you mill your own wheat berries you keep the bran, germ, endosperm which has all its original vitamins you need (such as B vitamins, vitamin E minerals) it also has healthy fats and protein.
I started using fresh milled flour at the beginning of 2025. It was a learning curve when we started, (as most new things are, especially with baking). Bread is one of my favorite things to bake, whether it’s sourdough in my Dutch oven or just a simple loaf of sandwich bread. I have come to love using fresh milled flour, and really enjoy creating my own recipes. I have used different equipment for baking over the years, so I know what does and doesn’t work depending on what you’re making (so I’ll note in my recipes the different equipment you can use).
Baking is one way I can be creative, making food that not just tastes good but looks beautiful.
I’m excited to share the many recipes I have come up with.
And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger ….”
John 6:35
4. Writing
For as long as I can remember, I have always loved coming up and imagining all kinds of stories to write. I have started writing many of them and one I’m still working on. I love writing poetry, whether about life, scenery or loved ones. In the Bible David wrote many poetic Psalms to God, I have written many poems to my Savior.
I also write in my journal every day, what I read in my Bible every morning, then usually before bed I write a little about my day (especially the days I want to look back and remember).
Let not mercy and truth forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart, Proverbs 3:3
5. Creating
To me creating can be many things. Paint brushes designing a master piece on canvas. Pencils sketching the shapes and shows of a figure. Keeping your home and making it your own in the way you love best. Icing cookies and frosting cakes. Sewing handmade bags. Crocheting a scarf or blanket. Making and wrapping gifts for family or friends. Designing my own hand made cards for birthdays or holidays. Cutting out all sorts of paper (making a mess lol) and glueing crafts for a photo scrapbook.
And one of my favorites is creating memories with the people I love best, ones that we will remember forever.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2:10
6. Photography
I am always taking pictures of God’s magnificent creations. There’s something about capturing those special moments in life, memories we can look back on in years to come. The scenery of the sunrise or sunset from the car window or the sandy beach. I love photos of beautiful flowers in a garden or a bouquet that someone special got me. Even the silly, ugly or bad pictures; are memories and I love them all (I know some who like taking crazy pictures of me. You know who you are. Hahaha).
To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: Ecclesiastical 3:1
7. Music
I love worshiping the Lord on Sunday with my friends and family. Singing loud with my dad in the car. I enjoy listening to instrumental and classical music. I was learning to play the piano when I was 11 and 12, I loved it (I hope to keep learning again one day). My oldest brother, Malachi, plays the guitar very well. I always love singing with him when he plays around the fire on a beautiful summer’s eve. Dancing in the sun singing to the Lord is so refreshing at times.
Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises. Sing to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of a psalm, with trumpets and the sound of a horn; shout joyfully before the LORD, the King.
Psalm 98:4-6
I hope that I am a blessing to all who read. God bless.
